6 boys and 1 girl bundled into a van and hit the road in search of Burnely. Sean Haydon had very kindly offered us all a lift so I drove to Wolverhampton to convene with the others and off we set.

After the boys brought all the equipment up into the venue we proceeded to move chairs and tables in readiness to welcome people of the night.

The venue was lovely and the staff were wonderful. Eddie ordered a plate of chips before the punters arrived and I have to say they were the best chips I’ve ever tasted… I had 3!

It wasn’t long before the place was heaving and the music was bangin’.

Eddie Hubbard span a few records to warm up the joint followed by Sean Haydon. Now, I’m not fibbing when I say this… the music ALL NIGHT was FUNKING MAGIC! Richard Penrith, the young whipper-snapper from Manchester delighted the room with a ton of stuff we’d not heard before. He was certainly a talking point throughout the evening for many people. Nice one Rich, tip top and very exciting! This is definitely a DJ to travel for so I will be checking what’s on and where in future. And, him and his two friends supplied satisfactory eye-candy although I feel rather perverse being that they’re so young. Being old sucks at times like these

Sir David Abbott was on top form as were all the other DJ’s – Fred Krol, Danny Price, Johnny Beggs, Stuart Bennett, Cliff Camfield, Stuart Cheetham, Richard Penrith & Sean Haydon.

The evening was heavily weighted with fabulous funk – I was so in my element and danced manically as though no one were watching. I’m now yet another step further away from non-funky soul music. This stuff is just so vibrant and utterly evoking. It’s true to say there was definitely some pant-creaming moments.

Beggsy delighted me with some excellent Latin numbers as only Beggsy can. Pure class.

I finally got to meet Kirsty Conn0lly in the flesh; our online relationship has been a steady stream of comedy gold in terms of put-downs and flirting. Not that either of us drink from the furry cup but we both revel in the banter and shock-therapy dished out to our audience. She’s always banging on about her fabulous boobs, legs and teeth. Upon meeting her I licked her breast and proceeded to blow a raspberry in her cleavage. As she’s tall and I’m not my face was directly in line with her bosom – I couldn’t help myself. Laugh number 276.

I had a chat here and there between dancing. I must say, my memory is almost a complete blank and the time passed far too quickly. By 6am I was a mere shell of my former self, crippled and completely wankered. Signs of a perfect night.

Dolly, I hope you found your contact lens having all but poked your eye out looking for it!

The bus on the way home was now full of people with special needs
