5th August, 2012: Fun At the GoGo

So, Lindsay had surprised me by arriving ‘two’ hours early! Excellent opportunity to have a laugh and listen to Eddie’s wonderful beat ballad CD. We both sat there singing our heads off with stiffy’s.
The stiffy’s soon turned squiffy as we enjoyed a few pre-event tipples; Matt arrived to pick us up and we were already on one!
It only seems like yesterday I was enthusing about this new venue in Bristol. Upon arrival I gathered Lindsay, Matt and Becky in front of the building and asked if they could imagine those scabby hands and terrified cries of prisoners long dead I wrote about last time. They couldn’t. And there was me thinking I was the one void of any emotions.
Mark White was already at the decks when we walked in. Shane and Bev were there already so we all piled in the corner commandeering the best table in the joint.
The music was excellent all night. I got my Specials (which found me leaping into an Ibiza punch the air pogo jump dance haha), Memories Of A Dream, The Mystics, and Dean remembered to pop this in his box for me too (thank you)…
Mark sprung a nice surprise that I’d not danced to in ages and my face immediately lit up like a beacon as I strutted about the floor…
Of course, Topping did what he always does; super uptempo soul funk and some R&B. I just wish I could remember everything that I danced to; I’m so crap!
Dave Abbott arrived looking very French; my question as to whether he had any onions or garlic for sale fell on deaf ears
Great crowd again, a little lighter on numbers but that suited me as I didn’t have to push people out of the way on the dance floor
Saw some old friends and made some new ones. Even got a chicken burger on the way home but I think it had been prepared last Wednesday due to the amount of scissor action my teeth needed in order to masticate it.
We got home at around 3am, novel! By the time we’d unwound I did a Fosbury Flop onto my bed, together with the whiplash I’d caused myself throughout the night, and laid there still, looking at the back of my eyelids. Could I sleep though? I tossed and turned and in the end heard Lindsay mooching about and the ducks quacking so arose to prepare a post-event bacon and egg sandwich for us both. We sat there emotionally charged watching the Olympic rowing Gold highlights and our eyes leaked.
Made me feel really gooey and happy to see Lindsay laughing and dancing
A smashing night with the right music, people and venue; I’ll be back. Thank you John, Dean & the fluffy Nicci. You should be suitably chuffed
